Florida Governor Ron DeSantis harshly criticized former President Donald Trump for not supporting his presidential bid after former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley suspended her campaign.

DeSantis made the remarks during an appearance on Newsmax’s “The Balance,” referring to a pledge signed by Republican primary candidates pledging to support their party’s eventual nominee. .

“I signed a pledge, and you signed a pledge not to go home with the ball,” DeSantis said in an interview with Newsmax’s Eric Bolling. “So I kept that promise, and she’s going to have to make a decision about whether she wants it or not.”

The governor continued, “But the idea that somehow things have changed…I think everyone knew what they were doing at the time, and whether it made sense to them or not. So for me, I said, ‘If I say I’m going to do something, tell people that I’m going to do it. ”

Haley ended her bid for the White House on Wednesday morning after losing nearly every state on Super Tuesday, making it all but impossible for the former South Carolina governor to win.

“I said I wanted Americans to have their voices heard, and I did that. I have no regrets. And even though I’m no longer a candidate, I want to make my voice heard,” Haley said. I will never stop using my voice for the sake of others.” She spoke at the Daniel Island presidential campaign headquarters in her hometown of Charleston, South Carolina.

But Haley did not immediately endorse Trump, who is on track to win the Republican presidential nomination within the next week or two.

“It’s now up to Donald Trump to win the votes of those who didn’t support him, both inside and outside his party,” Haley said, pointing to those who supported her during her White House campaign. “And I hope he does.” “Now it’s his time to choose.”

The former president on Tuesday overwhelmingly won 14 of the 15 states where Republican presidential primaries and caucuses were held on Super Tuesday, securing Trump the Republican nomination and setting him up for a rematch with President Biden in the general election. It got very close.
