After a hard-fought 23-19 win against the Buccaneers, Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was seen celebrating with his wife, Jilly Anais, along with friends and family. The couple, who tied the knot in July, shared affectionate moments, including kisses and hugs, which were captured in a video. Jilly could be heard joyfully telling Watson, “You deserve it baby!” as he embraced those close to him.
In an Instagram Story, Jilly expressed her excitement about the victory with a caption that included a photo of them both on the field at Raymond James Stadium, saying, “Going home with the winner!! 4’s up!”
The Browns managed to clinch the win by scoring two touchdowns in their last four possessions. Watson connected with tight end Harold Fannin Jr. for a 21-yard gain and later with Blake Whiteheart for a crucial 17-yard touchdown that sealed the game.
In terms of his performance, Watson completed 24 of 30 passes for a total of 238 yards, achieving a passer rating of 121.9 without any turnovers. After the game, Watson expressed his contentment with the win, stating, “I’m just happy we got the win. I’m right where I’m supposed to be. I’ll leave the journey in God’s hands and let the outcome be the outcome.”
His starting position had recently come under scrutiny following a disappointing loss to the Jaguars in Week 1, where fans were eager to see a different quarterback, Shedeur Sanders. In that game, Watson had 16 completions out of 22 attempts for 205 yards, with one touchdown and one interception, leading to a 34-10 defeat.
Head coach Todd Monken praised Watson for his hard work, saying, “I’m so happy for him. Good for him. Good for 22 months working his (tail) off to get to where he’s at. I’m gonna leave it at that.”
Before this season, Watson hadn’t played since 2024 due to successive Achilles injuries, and he’s working to regain the support of the Cleveland fans after facing boos during the preseason. In fact, he had previously apologized to fans for calling them “disrespectful” and mentioning that their boos felt “personal.”
The Browns are scheduled to host the Panthers at Huntington Bank Field on Sunday, September 27.
