Venice Beach Bungalow Listed for $1.99 Million

A bungalow in Venice Beach, known as the home of “It Girl” fashion designer Suzanne Marchese, has hit the market for $1.99 million. Marchese is the founder of the fashion brand Resa.

This news follows the recent opening of RESA’s first physical store located on the iconic Abbott Kinney Boulevard last fall. Marchese’s clientele includes notable names like Selena Gomez, Emma Roberts, Dakota Fanning, and Bella Hadid.

The property, located at 1163 Nell Rose Ave., features three bedrooms and two bathrooms, boasting one of the largest backyards in the area, as stated in the listing.

Originally from New York City, Marchese, who was a senior fashion editor at US Weekly, established RESA as an e-commerce brand in 2015. She bought this 1,288-square-foot bungalow, which was originally built in 1914 but has been extensively modernized, for $1.71 million in 2022.

Marchese has described the house as a true reflection of her personality, stating, “As a vintage collector and designer who finds endless inspiration in the past, this house truly reflects who I am at my core.”

She opted for a design that emphasizes brightness and simplicity, aiming to highlight the vintage features and artwork. Some favorite items in her home include light fixtures from the 1960s and 70s, paired with black-and-white photography by Adam Franzino.

“All of the pieces are personally sourced by me, with some circulating through my retail store on Abbot Kinney. I love how this home combines soft vintage textures with marble, wood, and subtle black accents,” she remarked. The garden, she added, serves as a special space for relaxation, social gatherings, or even work meetings.

Marchese expressed a desire for change, saying, “At the end of the day, I’m moving just because I want a change and I want a little more space, but this Venice Beach bungalow has become a very meaningful canvas for my creativity.”

The airy property is designed for indoor-outdoor living, featuring amenities like a sauna and cold plunge—perfect for unwinding after a day spent at the beach.

In addition to the front garden, there’s a privacy hedge and a parking area for two vehicles. Inside, three elegant bay windows enhance the light-filled atmosphere, while the whitewashed interiors lend a contemporary touch. The open living and dining area connects to a straightforward chef’s kitchen, which includes a compact island breakfast bar. The main bedroom suite is equipped with ample closet space.

French doors lead to a dining deck that overlooks the backyard, creating an inviting setting for entertaining.

The listing is being managed by Trey Alligood from Douglas Elliman.
