Despite Claiming He’s ‘Ready to Play,’ Colin Kaepernick Admits He Hasn’t Watched an NFL Game in 8 Years

Despite always insisting he's ready to return to the National Football League, former second-team quarterback Colin Kaepernick admitted he hasn't watched football in eight years.

Kaepernick, who gained notoriety as the face of anti-American protests during the national anthem in 2016, insisted he remains in top condition and ready to return to action. However, he rejected several offers to do so.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback rejected an offer to remain with the team for the 2017 season, but soon found out other teams weren't as keen on signing him. Since 2017, he has been given several opportunities, but it seems that he turned them all down due to his lack of ability.

But despite insisting he was ready to return to the NFL, he admitted he now doesn't even watch games anymore.

During the panel discussion, Kaepernick was asked if he had watched the NFL recently. “I haven't watched a game in eight years,” he replied.

He went on to say that he follows different aspects of the game.

“Oh, I still check everyone's stats. I also get notified of who my agent has contacted, but I still check the stats. I know what's going on. But… “I'm not going to support in that way, so I'm never going to play a game, but you have to stay on top of what's going on with quarterbacks out there,” he said.

Kaepernick also reiterated his frequent claims that he is ready to play.

“I still wake up every morning and train. I've had to adjust my schedule a little bit. It might sound a little weird to say it out loud, but I wake up at 3:30 a.m. to start work, and then… I still train every day. I still train the same way I did when I was playing and make sure I'm always ready,” he said in a press conference. Ta.

Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh recently claimed that he offered Kaepernick a coaching job, but the former quarterback declined. But Kaepernick says that story is not true.

Kaepernick added that he is not interested in coaching, but is interested in joining the USA Olympic flag football team.

Still, while insisting he was ready to return to the NFL, he accused the league of conducting a “slave auction” when vetting and drafting players.
