Detransitioner Chloe Cole scorches LA Times for suggesting movement could cause ‘death’ of trans children

Detransition activist Chloe Cole has responded to a Los Angeles Times article which questioned her “motives” for sharing her experience of detransition and suggested her campaign could lead to the “death” of transgender children.

“This article is insane,” Cole wrote to X last week. “You are strongly insinuating that speaking about my personal experience will literally cause children to die. This is the same rhetoric that nearly got President Trump killed. I fear for my life every time I step on stage, so thanks for the heated rhetoric, LA Times.”

The headline of the article is “How California Teen Chloe Cole Emerged as a Leader of the ‘Detransition’ Movement and a Right-Wing Icon” The comments cast a negative light on Cole’s public awareness campaign against gender therapy and surgery, which she began after undergoing gender reassignment as a minor.

The article accused Cole, who had a double mastectomy at age 15, of trying to “erase transgender kids” by publicly speaking about her regrets about her gender transition and calling for a ban on the same medical procedures and sex-reassignment surgeries that she “underwent.”

The article also cites critics who say the 19-year-old’s anti-trans movement could lead to higher suicide rates in the transgender community.

“Despite warnings that her movement will harm and kill transgender children, she said it is ‘beautiful’ and ‘about love,'” the article said, quoting Cole at a recent event in Sacramento.

“Leading medical groups have condemned the policies Cole is promoting, and LGBTQ+ activists have warned that people like her are a danger to already vulnerable young people,” the Times article continues. “Activists worry that her story is being promoted as part of a coordinated effort by conservatives to use high suicide rates among transgender people to discriminate against LGBTQ+ young people, whose access to health care is crucial to their health.”

The article goes on to say, “Most of Cole’s critics don’t dismiss her personal story any more than they dismiss the experiences of hundreds of thousands of transgender young people. But as her profile grows, they begin to question her motives.”

The LA Times also quoted Dr. Marcy Bowers, president of the World Professional Association of Transgender Healthcare (WPATH), as saying that gender-specific medical interventions are “appropriate for the ‘vast majority’ of patients and that doctors should follow ‘careful and considered’ standards. Surgery on minors is rare and reserved for severe cases,” she said.

“Sexual diversity is a time-honored human characteristic that deserves access to health care, and that access can be life-saving,” Bowers, an obstetrician-gynecologist who has performed “thousands” of sex-reassignment surgeries, told the Los Angeles Times.

The article noted Cole’s recent support for former President Trump, and said he “doesn’t believe in the concept of transgender children or the idea that transgender is an identity that people are born with.”

“It’s just behavior. … I believe it comes from other factors in life, other stresses,” she was quoted as saying.

The article goes on to detail Cole’s lawsuit against a national medical group and its doctors, whom he claims performed “mutilation and gender-reassignment experiments” on him.

Musk says transgender children are being metaphorically “killed” by the “woke mind virus” and vows to stop it. “My son died.”

“She has turned her own transition process, which she once saw as a reflection of the supportive parents who are rare for LGBTQ+ young people, into a nightmarish lesson,” the Times article said.

After his initial reaction to X’s article, Cole I wrote in a follow-up post“By the way, this has made me even more convinced and determined. There is nothing in this world that can stop me from speaking out against the mutilation of our children.”

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who recently spoke out about his child’s gender transition experience, responded to Cole’s post, writing, “WPATH is a criminal enterprise.”

“Yes,” Cole writes, “we slaughter and sterilize children not just for the money, but because we are passionate about it.”

The Los Angeles Times told Fox News Digital that its “reporting on this issue speaks for itself and we encourage people to read it for themselves.”

Neither Cole nor WPATH responded to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.

Cole told parliament last year that he was diagnosed with gender dysphoria and rushed into taking puberty suppressants and testosterone, receiving his first injection when he was 13.

At the time, she suffered from a number of co-occurring mental illnesses, including anxiety, depression, puberty difficulties, learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, fears of sexual abuse and rape, and ongoing confusion about her gender. But, according to her lawsuit, she “needed love, care, attention, and regular weekly psychotherapy,” not “cross-sex hormones or mutilation surgery.”

She said that although she was not suicidal at the time, the treatment was presented to her and her parents as the only option to prevent her from taking her own life.

She has since detransitioned and become a vocal opponent of transgender care for minors.
