Lions Release Cornerback Following Arrest
The Detroit Lions announced on June 29 that cornerback Terrion Arnold has been let go after being arrested in Florida on multiple charges, including four counts of kidnapping and armed robbery.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Arnold turned himself in to the Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County. He is under investigation for alleged involvement in attacks on three men, and, if found guilty, he could face a life sentence.
On the same day, Hillsborough County Judge Christopher Sabella set bail at $1 million. Reports indicate that Arnold is restricted from contacting his six co-defendants or any witnesses, must remain at his home in Tallahassee except for Lions duties, and has to surrender his passport within 24 hours.
As noted by the Lions, “The Lions announced today that they have released cornerback Terrion Arnold.”
The incident reportedly began on February 1, when several items were stolen from the Airbnb where Arnold was staying. He suspects that two of the victims were linked to the theft, and he, along with Boakai Hilton Jr., Freddie Hughes, and another individual, claimed over $250,000 worth of items were taken.
Arnold and Hilton Jr. allegedly instructed two co-defendants, Ariana Del Valle and Jasmine Randazzo, to lure one of the victims to their apartment on February 4. When the victims arrived, co-defendants Christion Williams and Lyndell Hudson III reportedly ambushed them from a closet, assaulting them and brandishing firearms.
Detectives claim Del Valle streamed the incident live to Arnold and others while they provided guidance through online chat during the assault.
TPD reports that Arnold, along with Hughes, Hilton, and another person, arrived at the apartment about an hour after the victims were attacked. Allegedly, Arnold then directed the group to enter the apartment, where Williams, Hughes, and Hudson took property from the victims.
The police allege that armed suspects forcibly took the victims from the residence and made them leave in a vehicle. It is reported that Williams, Del Valle, and another individual fled in a vehicle driven by Arnold.
The Lions selected Arnold 24th overall in the 2024 draft. He still has a base salary of $1.273 million due for 2026, along with $2.75 million for 2027, as reported by NBC Sports.
The Lions’ defense was ranked in the lower half of the league against passing offenses in the 2025 season. For a team aiming for a Super Bowl run, improvements in a struggling pass defense unit will be essential.
