DHS chief Noem responds to Zohran Mamdani's allegations of ICE 'abduction'

Counterarguments Surface in NYC Mayoral Race

Kristi Noem, the Executive Director of DHS, has responded sharply to accusations made by New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani regarding immigration issues. Noem argues that Mamdani’s comments overlook the importance of her agency in removing dangerous criminals from the streets.

During a recent appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Noem expressed disbelief that New Yorkers might resonate with Mamdani’s rhetoric, suggesting that if he were to become mayor, residents would still have to cope with the ongoing threat posed by dangerous criminals. “Hundreds of criminal illegal immigrants have already been removed from New York City because of President Trump’s leadership. We must continue this effort and elect a mayor who will support us,” she stated.

Noem further warned that under a democratic socialist administration, the situation in New York could devolve into chaos, leaving families without necessary assistance.

Conversely, Mamdani addressed a congregation at the Great Allen Cathedral, framing the actions of the Trump administration as “authoritarian” and responsible for creating dark times that have led to the harmful treatment of immigrants. He criticized the former administration for an approach that he described as akin to “abduction.”

Mamdani’s own campaign has introduced a range of proposals, including city-run grocery stores and free public transportation, which some skeptics argue are impractical. With the election approaching in November, voters will weigh their options among candidates like Mamdani, Republicans Curtis Sliwa and Andrew Cuomo, and the current mayor, Eric Adams.
