Department of Homeland Security Criticizes Hilton Hotels
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has taken aim at Hilton Hotels, alleging that the hotel chain is systematically obstructing immigration enforcement efforts.
In a recent statement, the DHS showcased screenshots that purportedly show Hilton canceling reservations for its employees in the Minneapolis area.
“Why would Hilton Hotels side with murderers and rapists and intentionally undermine and obstruct DHS law enforcement’s mission to enforce our nation’s immigration laws?” the agency questioned in the statement.
The agency went on to accuse Hilton of orchestrating a campaign to deny services to DHS personnel, stating that when one employee attempted to book a room using official government credentials, the reservation was “maliciously” canceled, which they deemed unacceptable.
One of the shared screenshots revealed an email response from Hilton, which cited the presence of ICE agents as the cancellation reason. It read, “Today, we have noticed an influx of government reservations for DHS. We do not allow ICE or Immigration Services personnel to stay at our facilities. If you work for DHS or Immigration Services, please let us know so we can cancel your reservation.”
A spokesperson for Hilton responded to these claims in an email to Blaze News, asserting, “Hilton hotels serve as places where all are welcome.” They emphasized that the specific hotel mentioned operates independently and stated that such actions do not reflect Hilton’s values. The spokesperson also indicated that Hilton is investigating the matter with the hotel involved.
Interestingly, social media reactions included some users canceling their reservations with Hilton, opting to avoid the hotel chain altogether.
Blaze News also sought comments from Hampton Inn in Lakeville regarding the situation.
