DHS Highlights Trump's Achievements, 3 Million Migrants Returned

Department of Homeland Security Reports Millions of Migrants Departing the U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has indicated that over three million undocumented migrants have exited the United States, including approximately 2.2 million who left voluntarily since the president resumed office in 2024.

DHS revealed that since May, nearly 900,000 undocumented immigrants have been deported, with another 900,000 taken into custody, as reported.

According to a statement from DHS, “In President Trump’s first year back in office, over 3 million illegal aliens have departed the U.S., primarily due to the administration’s strict measures on illegal immigration, which includes an estimated 2.2 million who chose to self-deport.”

Furthermore, DHS noted that the president’s initiative to provide monetary incentives for self-deportation is considerably less expensive than the traditional deportation processes.

In March 2025, the Trump administration introduced a mobile app from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that allows undocumented migrants seeking to voluntarily leave the country to do so without waiting for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to act.

The department also emphasized that the Trump administration has established the most secure border in U.S. history.

The White House commented, “While radical Democrats advocate for open-border strategies, President Trump and the Republicans prioritize American interests—focusing on securing borders, deporting the most dangerous criminal migrants, and restoring law and order. The American public has expressed a desire for secure borders, rejecting the chaotic agenda of radical Democrats that undermines safety, economic stability, the rule of law, and our way of life.”

In addition, the White House highlighted several achievements of the administration’s immigration policies.

Among these successes is the statistic that no undocumented migrant has been released at the border for over sixteen months. Apprehensions decreased by 94 percent in August, and CBP seized 73% more illegal drugs this year compared to the same timeframe in 2024. Additionally, ICE has apprehended over 10,000 gang members and 2,100 known or suspected terrorists and has increased its agent workforce from 10,000 to 22,000.

The White House also pointed out that “More than 157,000 migrant children—many of whom were previously lost under the Biden Administration and who fell victim to trafficking—have been located.”

DHS has implemented various policies aimed at accelerating deportations, including substantial fines designed to urge illegal migrants to leave.

In July, DHS announced $84 billion in fines directed at 103,000 undocumented immigrants.

These fines form part of the Trump administration’s comprehensive strategy to enforce the deportation directive mandated in November 2024. The expulsion of economic migrants is seen as a way to boost wages and lower rents for younger Americans, while also encouraging politicians and elites to align more with average citizens rather than employers and migrants.
