DHS official criticizes Kim Kardashian for her remarks on ICE

DHS official blasts Kim Kardashian over ICE criticism

Tricia McLaughlin, an advisor for Homeland Security, reached out again to Kim Kardashian on Wednesday, expressing disapproval of a recent ICE operation that targeted workers in Los Angeles.

In a post on Social Platform X, McLaughlin challenged Kardashian, asking, “Which of these convicted child molesters, murderers, drug traffickers, or rapists would you want to remain in the county?” She included four images of individuals, stating that they were arrested by ICE agents in the Los Angeles area along with summaries of their suspected criminal histories.

“These are just a few of the illegal offenders convicted in the last 72 hours,” she remarked.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responded directly to Kardashian’s criticism. They emphasized that while ICE’s intent is to safeguard the nation by removing violent criminals, they occasionally arrest individuals with no violent history.

Kardashian, reflecting on her upbringing in the area, noted, “I’ve seen how deeply woven immigrants are into the fabric of this city. They are our friends, classmates, neighbors, and family.” She further commented, “No matter your political stance, it’s evident that our community thrives due to the contributions of immigrants. When fear and injustice disrupt the freedom and safety of our people, we can’t just look away. We need to find a better solution.”

This response from Kardashian comes as Trump administration officials have been emphasizing their focus on deporting criminal offenders who are illegally in the U.S. Yet, some of those affected appear to have no violent backgrounds.

Kardashian occasionally uses her platform to voice her stance on various policy issues and has previously collaborated with the Trump administration on criminal justice reform.

On Wednesday, President Trump reinforced his immigration agenda, defending the deployment of the National Guard and Marines to Los Angeles amid ongoing unrest, a move that drew criticism from California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Trump stated, “The incompetent governors of California were unable to provide timely protection when our ICE officers, the great patriots they are, were attacked by an out-of-control mob.” He asserted that without intervention from the troops, Los Angeles would be in dire straits.

Newsom responded strongly to Trump’s rhetoric, denouncing the administration’s approach to the militarization of immigration enforcement as “abuse of power.”
