Operation Metro Surge Uncovers Arrests in Minnesota
Officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently detailed an operation that led to multiple arrests of illegal aliens in Minnesota. This occurred as part of the ongoing Operation Metro Surge, which aims to address various serious crimes, including murder, rape, and child abuse. The report suggests that sanctuary jurisdictions continue to impede efforts to detain dangerous criminals.
In a statement on Wednesday, DHS officials highlighted the success of law enforcement operations in and around Minneapolis. They noted that the raids on Tuesday resulted in the removal of undocumented immigrants linked to serious offenses like murder and sexual assaults from the streets.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated, “DHS law enforcement is actively stopping criminal illegal aliens from further harming the community. Yesterday’s arrests included individuals involved in horrifying crimes.” She criticized sanctuary policies that allow these criminals to remain free, arguing that their release poses a substantial threat to public safety. “To ensure the safety of Americans, sanctuary jurisdictions must collaborate with ICE instead of hindering our efforts,” she added.
DHS shared details on some of the individuals arrested, highlighting the severity of their alleged crimes:
Notable arrests during Operation Metro Surge included:
- Michelle Chanthavon, an undocumented immigrant from Laos, convicted of murder.
- Folatekesong Ritana, also from Laos, convicted of rape and sexual assault.
- Javier Gutierrez, an undocumented immigrant from Nicaragua, charged with serious offenses including sexual assault on a minor, multiple sexual assaults, and felony possession of a controlled substance.
- Nghia Van Vu, a criminal illegal alien from Vietnam, convicted of murder/manslaughter, sexual assault, and other crimes.
- Ives Ibram Ventura Dominguez, from Honduras, has multiple convictions including assault, domestic violence, and drunk driving.
- Jose Willian Yukilema-Rumi, undocumented from Ecuador, found guilty of domestic violence and disorderly conduct.
- Claudio Anaya Arce, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico, convicted of forgery, fraud, and drunk driving.
- Ashweel Ashweel Messein Majok, an illegal alien from Sudan with felony convictions for burglary and theft.
- Ana Karen Mota Cervantes, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, charged with dangerous drugs – amphetamines.
More detailed information about the types of criminal illegal aliens detained in Minnesota can be found in the DHS “Worst of the Worst” report. The agency’s website features an extensive list of arrested individuals as part of targeted enforcement operations.
Despite the escalating number of dangerous criminals being apprehended through Operation Metro Surge, local authorities in Minnesota have reportedly continued to protect criminal illegal aliens for political reasons. This approach may push ICE agents to carry out riskier street arrests, potentially jeopardizing the safety of community members and law enforcement.
DHS officials argue that the approach taken by Minnesota’s leaders is putting ideology above public safety. They believe that as long as local officials refuse to permit direct ICE detentions, residents will bear the ramifications of policies that prioritize shielding criminal aliens over community safety.
