Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem declared on Sunday that she would support her disbanding “how to exist today.”

Noem's comments follow after the GOP leader raised concerns about FEMA's inactive response to Hurricane Helen, which destroyed North Carolina and other states in September 2024.
Since taking office, President Trump has argued that state governments are far better at natural disasters and crises than FEMA, with the federal government taking on a more passive role while providing funding. He claims that there is.
