DHS Spokesperson Criticizes Democratic Representative Daniel Goldman for Overlooking Migrant Offenders Let Go in New York City

DHS Official Criticizes Rep. Goldman Over Criminal Alien Release

Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has called out Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-N.Y.) for what she perceives as negligence regarding the release of a convicted rapist into New York City by local authorities.

In response to Goldman’s comments about New York City’s laws allowing for collaboration with ICE regarding criminal aliens who have served their sentences, McLaughlin emphasized the issue of violent offenders being set free. Goldman claimed that the law does not permit ICE to intervene in cases where individuals have been charged but not yet convicted.

Goldman’s remarks came after he shared a video from McLaughlin. In that video, a statement was made regarding the impacts of crime committed by illegal aliens once they are released into communities like New York or Chicago, suggesting a cycle of re-offending.

“Address this, Rep. Goldman. Why is New York not handing over these violent criminals to ICE, letting them roam freely in the city?” McLaughlin questioned in her post.

McLaughlin pointed to several individuals among those released, including Hussein Aslan, who had been arrested on multiple serious charges, including rape and assault, and had also been convicted of aggravated criminal contempt. “Aslan was released, despite objections from ICE detainees,” she noted.

Another individual mentioned was Jose David Hernandez, who faced charges of rape, strangulation, and assault, but was also released by local authorities against the wishes of ICE detainees.

A recent DHS press release highlighted that nearly 7,000 criminal illegal aliens are currently in custody within New York, with ongoing concerns raised by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) leadership. This situation has led to significant public discourse about the implications of such releases, as highlighted by the various serious crimes associated with foreign nationals.
