Insight into Diane Keaton’s Health Before Her Passing

Carol Bayer Sager, a close friend of Diane Keaton, has shared some thoughts on Keaton’s health leading up to her death. In a recent interview, Sager mentioned that when they met a couple of weeks ago, Keaton appeared “so thin.” This conversation took place just after Keaton passed away at 79.

Sager, who is 81, emphasized Keaton’s weight loss, noting that she had begun to see less of her friend this year. Keaton had moved to Palm Springs following damage to her home from California wildfires earlier in January.

“I was a bit surprised by her weight loss when she returned,” Sager said.

Sager, who had collaborated with Keaton on her single “First Christmas,” remembered her as a vibrant personality, full of creativity and joy. “I just loved her. She was such a special person who could light up any room,” Sager reflected, recalling how Keaton had a knack for celebrating even the mundane parts of life.

Another friend described Keaton, an iconic actress and filmmaker, as consistently funny and someone who curated her life around things and people she genuinely enjoyed. “She really surrounded herself with what she loved,” the friend shared.

Keaton’s passing was confirmed by her family, but the cause of death has not yet been disclosed. Friends noted that her health had “suddenly deteriorated” in recent months, which was surprising, especially considering her strong spirit.

Keaton had faced health challenges before, surviving two instances of skin cancer and dealing with an eating disorder. Not much was revealed about any current illness prior to her passing.

The actress last posted on Instagram on April 11, sharing a cheerful moment with her golden retriever, Reggie. She had not made any public appearances for about six months leading up to her death.

She leaves behind her two adopted children, Dexter, 29, and Duke, 25, whom she welcomed into her life after turning 50.
