Diddy’s date for release from prison announced following shocking trial and sentencing

Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to be eligible for release from prison in 2028, as confirmed by various sources.

The 55-year-old rapper faced federal prostitution charges and received a sentence of over four years earlier this month.

His anticipated release date is May 8, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Diddy will serve 50 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, along with a $500,000 fine. Prosecutors had actually recommended a significantly longer sentence of 135 months, which is just over 11 years.

His attorney, Tenny Geragos, submitted a request on October 6 for Judge Arun Subramanian to consider recommending Fort Dix as Diddy’s location. In a letter shared with the media, Geragos mentioned that Combs could address substance abuse problems through the prison’s program and improve family visitation and rehabilitation efforts.

Fort Dix, as noted on its official website, houses around 4,100 male inmates, with about 3,900 in the main facility and roughly 200 in minimum-security satellite camps. Its location on an Air Force base in southern New Jersey is just 90 minutes from New York City and an hour from Philadelphia, which might make it an appealing option for Combs.

Ultimately, the decision on where he will serve his sentence lies with the Bureau of Prisons.

A jury found Diddy guilty on July 2 of two counts related to transportation for prostitution. He was acquitted of more serious charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking.

Prosecutors argued he deserved a substantial prison term, citing his “unrepentant” attitude in their recommendations. Diddy has been incarcerated since his arrest on September 16, 2024.

His lawyer mentioned that Diddy was under “constant suicide watch” during his imprisonment, alleging other harsh conditions including inadequate access to clean water, food with maggots, and no opportunities for physical therapy or exercise.

Days prior to his sentencing, Judge Subramanian denied Diddy’s final appeal for a new trial and acquittal, stating that the evidence against him was “overwhelming.”
