Amber Glenn’s Comments on LGBTQ Community and the Trump Administration
Amber Glenn, a figure skater representing the U.S. at the Winter Olympics, expressed that the LGBTQ community is facing challenging times during the Trump administration.
She mentioned to the media that the policies implemented by the Trump administration have repercussions not just for the gay community, but for various other groups as well.
“This is a tough period for our community and for this administration. We’ve had to unite and advocate for human rights before, and now it feels particularly critical,” Glenn remarked. “At this moment, it’s affecting not just the queer community, but many other communities too.”
Furthermore, Glenn observed that the community is finding new ways to support one another, which they might not have needed to do previously.
“I aim to use my platform and my voice through the games to inspire others to remain resilient during these tough times,” she added, noting, “Politics impacts every one of us.”
Her statements have garnered significant attention online; many fans have praised her for leveraging the Olympic stage to address issues facing the LGBTQ+ community and various other groups.
Support for Glenn’s remarks quickly emerged, with fans thanking her for her strong and youthful voice. One supporter commented, “Thank you for your young and strong voice!!” while another encouraged her, saying, “Wow! Keep shouting!!!”
Others viewed her words as part of a broader movement, urging athletes to keep the dialogue alive. “More of this!! When people lead, leaders will follow. And we need new leaders!” one comment stated.

As noted by some reports, Glenn is not the only athlete from Team USA to critique the Trump administration and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Hunter Hess, a freestyle skier on the team, remarked, “Just because he wears the flag doesn’t mean he represents everything that’s going on in the United States.”
