Diplo Jokes About Dating Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau

Diplo is having a laugh over the viral joke suggesting he was involved with both Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau.

On Monday, the DJ shared a selfie with the former Canadian Prime Minister, captioning it playfully with Perry’s song title, “The one that got away.”

In the goofy selfie, both Diplo and Trudeau sport expressions of comical shock.

Friends of Diplo found humor in the post. Paris Hilton chimed in with a laughing emoji, while Ryan Tedder simply exclaimed, “Damn.”

Recently, during an appearance on the “Smart Girl’s Stupid Questions” podcast, Diplo made the tongue-in-cheek claim about dating both Perry and Trudeau. He referred to the new couple as “Fire” and reminisced about dating the “Dark Horse” singer back in 2014.

He also added, “I’ve also dated Prime Minister Trudeau,” but quickly noted, “It was weird. Because I’m not interested in politicians.”

Although the podcast clarified that he was joking, it sparked quite a bit of chatter. When a listener pressed him on the seriousness of his claim, Diplo reiterated it was all in good fun.

Perry had previously ranked him as her third-best lover, a tease that came about during a game with James Corden back in 2017. Diplo jokingly responded on Twitter at the time, saying, “I don’t even remember having sex,” and added, “I won a bronze medal at the Sex Olympics.”
