Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton Faces Senate Primary Challenge
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is set to challenge incumbent Republican Sen. John Cornyn in the 2026 U.S. Senate primary, which could mean there will be significant expectations placed on the Attorney General’s office next year.
With Cornyn’s approval ratings dipping, Texas might be on the lookout for a new top law enforcement leader. According to BlazeTV host Jil Savage, the situation might be ripe for change.
There’s a notable figure who has experience taking on Donald Trump during his time at the Department of Justice. Trump even referred to him as a “true Maga lawyer.” His name is Aaron Raitz, who served as Paxton’s former senior aide at the Justice Department.
In a recent episode of “Blaze News | The Mandate,” Raitz discussed his motivations for joining the challenge and the need to address crime in Texas, while also holding accountable those he believes are undermining the system, particularly some district attorneys backed by Soros.
“If Texas doesn’t get someone who truly understands what it means to be a constitutional warrior in the AG position, it could set off all kinds of negative consequences both locally and nationally,” he stressed. “We can’t let that happen.”
Raitz stressed the urgency for the Texas AG to grasp the seriousness of the current circumstances. He expressed that there’s an ongoing battle for the nation’s values, particularly in Texas, due to its size and influence. This has made it a focal point for Democratic interests.
If Texas were to fall into what he calls a “Red Condition Complaint,” he implies it would be a major error. This term describes a scenario where a red state fails to acknowledge the dangers currently facing the country and believes minor adjustments are sufficient to safeguard freedom and justice.
According to Raitz, the actions of Soros-backed district attorneys have started to undermine law and order in Texas. He pointed out that local counties have significant autonomy, making it easier for left-leaning ideologies to infiltrate local government and push aggressive policies.
Raitz explained that the Texas AG under constitutional authority plays a critical role in mitigating the damage caused by these district attorneys funded by Soros.
One strategy he intends to implement is the “Quo Warranto memo,” a legal tool that allows states to challenge the authority of civil servants, such as district attorneys, if they breach the law consistently.
His goal, as he puts it, is to advocate for responsible governance in Texas, especially against district attorneys whose decisions may be freeing criminals and fostering a sense of unease in families. He aims to hold these prosecutors accountable.
