Panel Discussion Turns Chaotic Over Comments on Charlie Kirk’s Widow
A recent panel discussion examining the assassination of Charlie Kirk descended into disorder, stirred by extreme statements from left-wing influencers regarding the widow of the activist.
During the conversation, liberal YouTube host Ana Kasparian and others criticized streamer Destiny, known as Steven Bonnell, for his remarks.
“You have a significant audience, which means you’re accountable! You represent our worst fears! It’s embarrassing,” Kasparian expressed emphatically.
“How can you mock a woman, a widow with two young children who saw her husband shot? What is wrong with you?” she implored Bonnell on Piers Morgan’s YouTube program.
“I really don’t get you. You seem to harbor a lot of hatred!” she added.
Bonnell defended himself, suggesting that if someone’s grief is weaponized, people have the right to react. “If you’re using someone’s sorrow for political motives, sure, people can react however they choose,” he said.
“She has every right to grieve, but when that grief is manipulated for political gain and radicalization, it opens the door for mockery,” he added, which seemed to upset Kasparian further.
Kasparian pressed, “So because others are politically exploiting her grief, it’s okay for you to attack her directly? Does that make sense?”
“Yes, because she’s the one who gave a long televised speech about good and evil. She showed up in TPUSA ads soon after,” Bonnell retorted.
The argument shifted as Bonnell continued to critique Kasparian, claiming that while right-wing activists talk about civil war, the left is busy attacking one another.
In another part of the interview, Kasparian demanded Bonnell condemn the attack against Kirk. He responded, saying he would only do so if Trump condemned political violence.
“Why tie your response to Trump?” Kasparian asked incredulously.
“Because he’s the president and leader of the opposing party!” Bonnell exclaimed.
“You have a huge following of young men who listen to everything you say! You hold responsibility!” Kasparian insisted.
Bonnell laughed off Kasparian’s comments, making light of her conversation with Glenn Beck, co-founder of Blaze Media. “You’re embarrassing. You give the left a bad image without even realizing it,” Kasparian shot back.
“Sure, I can discuss it later with Glenn Beck!” Bonnell chuckled.
Continuing, Kasparian noted that Bonnell should steer clear of discussions around online harassment, referencing a lawsuit against him from another political influencer, which Bonnell claimed was unfounded.
On Thursday, Turning Point USA announced Erika Kirk would assume the role of CEO.
