Disney heiress halts DNC donations over Biden campaign

Disney heiress Abigail Disney said she will stop donating to the Democratic party as long as Biden is the presidential nominee.

Disney is the granddaughter of Roy O. Disney, who co-founded The Walt Disney Company with Walt Disney.

The 64-year-old recently said she plans to hold off on donating to Democrats until Biden withdraws.

“We have a great vice president.”

“I will cease all donations to the party until we have a candidate to replace Biden at the top. This is reality, and this is no disrespect. Biden is a good man and has served the country well, but the stakes are just too high,” Disney was reported as saying. “If Biden doesn’t step down, the Democratic Party will lose. I am absolutely certain of that. The consequences of a loss would be truly devastating,” she said. CNBC.

The president has said he is determined to run for federal office in 2024, and while there were initial calls from Democrats for him to resign, many, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have since changed their tune.

The Disney heiress is a longtime donor to the Democratic Party as well as activist political action committees.

CNBC reported on the following donations:

  • $50,000 to the Jane Fonda Climate PAC
  • $35,000 to Democrats running for Congress
  • $150,000 to Planned Parenthood Votes PAC
  • $26,000 to the Biden campaign
  • A total of $400,000 to Democrats in the 2024 election cycle

The California-born member of the Disney family suggested that Vice President Kamala Harris should replace Biden in order to defeat President Trump.

“We have a great vice president, and if Democrats can tolerate even a tenth of what they see as her flaws as much as they have tolerated Biden’s flaws — and make no mistake about how race and gender relate to those inequalities — and if Democrats can find a way to stop bickering and rally around her, we can win this election in a big way,” she said.

Other prominent left-leaning advocates calling for Biden to step down include WME CEO Ari Emanuel. The Hollywood agency mogul, who played the foul-mouthed Ari Gold on HBO’s “Entourage,” said simply that Biden is too old.

“My dad passed away at 92, but he took the car away when he was 81. For me, it was a pretty easy test,” Emanuel said. The Hollywood Reporter“If you were to drive from downtown Beverly Hills to Malibu, would you want Biden driving at night? Would you want Trump driving at night? If the answer is neither, then you can’t let them run a $27 trillion enterprise called the United States of America.”

Even vocal left-wing author Stephen King said it was time for Biden to withdraw from the race.

“Joe Biden has been a great president, but for the sake of the America he clearly loves, the time has come to announce that he will not be running for reelection.”

King’s comments sparked widespread backlash, with actor George Takei saying they were simply another “horror story” from the author.
