The Disney Grooming Syndicate lost its top spot in watching TV on YouTube.

“YouTube pulled ahead of Disney on Nielsen's media distributor gauge in February, up 2% to an 11.6% share of the time spent watching TV that month,” Lap reported.

“The Milestone marks the highest share of Alphabet-owned video platforms ever, and marks the second time Nielsen's list since its launch in November 2023,” the report adds.

YouTube conducted 11.5% of television time. Disney came in second with 10%. Fox, Netflix and Paramount concluded the top five with 8.3%, 8.2% and 8.2% respectively.

NBCuniversal ranked 6th with 8.1%. But then the drop-off comes…

Warner Bros Discovery, 6.1%. Amazon Prime, 3.5%. roku channel, 2.1%…

This is about watching TV. Nielsen measures what you see on TV, not on your computer. My cute wife and I watch a lot of YouTube on TV. There are plenty of free movies that contain old TV movies you won't find anywhere else.

With the time spent watching YouTube on YouTube increasing by 53% in just two years, people seem to be discovering a wealth of stuff on YouTube. Those over the age of 65 have increased their YouTube viewing on TV by 96%. Our old men finally understand how streaming machines work.

This is interesting:

Despite the powerful shows from the Super Bowl and other top television broadcasts, total broadcast viewing fell 10% to 21.2% of television, while cables fell 9% to win a total of 23.2% of television. Viewers at sporting events fell by 54% on broadcasts and 42% on cable.

A double-digit decline in broadcast television viewing and a nearly double-digit decline in cable television viewing are terrible, huge losses in a month.

Everything is changing and it's getting better. It's fascinating to discover the number of people who have moved from cable TV to streaming subscriber services five years later. Finally, all the free streaming services out there.

We don't pay anything on TV unless we count our internet connections. There are many free things available through our roku, no need.
