Disneyland Named America’s Most Affordable Theme Park
In a recent review of luxury theme parks, Disneyland has been highlighted as America’s most budget-friendly option for vacationers. This finding comes from a theme park index by HomeToGo, which examined the costs associated with a theme park vacation.
Interestingly, both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park topped the list of the most expensive family outings at a U.S. theme park, with each visitor averaging a cost of about $331 per day. This total includes expenses for hotel stays, admission tickets, and parking fees.
Remarkably, six of the ten least expensive parks in the country are tied to Disney.
The following is the list of the ten most affordable theme parks, arranged from most to least expensive:
- Disney California Adventure Park, California – $331.03 per visitor
- Disneyland Park, California – $331.91 per visitor
- Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Florida – $296.80 per visitor
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Florida – $271.80 per visitor
- Universal Studios Hollywood, California – $268.39 per visitor
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Florida – $257.16 per visitor
- Disney’s Epcot, Florida – $257.16 per visitor
- Universal Studios Florida – $246.66 per visitor
- Universal Islands of Adventure, Florida – $246.60 per visitor
- Knott’s Berry Farm, California – $231.91 per visitor
For a family of four, expenses for hotel accommodations, parking, and admission can range from approximately $928 to $1,324 per day. It’s worth noting that this calculation excludes other significant costs like flights, meals, and car rentals that also play a role in vacation budgeting.
Additionally, the costs at Disney have been escalating more rapidly than those at competing parks, leading many families to feel the financial strain. While Disneyland remains one of the few profitable segments of the company, there are troubling signs indicating that families may be hesitant to spend. For instance, Disney’s attendance hit its lowest point in ten years last June amid rising prices. In May of last year, a viral video highlighted one father’s shock at the expenses he incurred during just a single day in the park.
As for more affordable options, they include Quashi Amusement in Connecticut, where visitors spend just $76.43 each day, and Fun Spot America Theme Park in Orlando at $177.56. Other lower-cost parks include Arizona’s Quashi Amusement for the same $76.43, Stle’s and Coasters at $129.63, Wild Adventures in Georgia at $131.84, and Six Flags Frontier City in Oklahoma at $131.87 per person per day.
