Disorderly crowd interrupts Massachusetts ICE arrest in chaotic video, resulting in two arrests

A troubling video has surfaced from Massachusetts, depicting a chaotic ICE arrest that escalated due to a crowd of around 25 individuals, which police are referring to as a “confusing incident.”

The footage, recorded in Worcester, shows residents shouting slogans like “Don’t take your mother!” and “no warrant!” as a woman is taken into an SUV by ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents.

In the scene, several women can also be seen protesting aggressively, placing their hands on the SUV’s front as it attempts to leave. Tensions escalated into a physical confrontation between bystanders and law enforcement during the attempted detention.

When the Worcester Police arrived and labeled the gathering as an illegal rally, they threatened arrests, which ultimately resulted in the SUV departing the area.

“I’m quite unsettled by today’s events involving ICE. It’s particularly heartbreaking around Mother’s Day, knowing families might be torn apart,” commented a local resident. “This fear haunts many in our community. I’ve urged the mayor to provide a full report on this incident, as we were not informed by ICE about the restraint.”

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has yet to respond to requests for comments regarding the incident.

Per the Worcester Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Eureka Street area around 11:13 AM in response to reports of federal agents surrounded by a large group. “We received information about ICE officers at the scene who allegedly did not show warrants to the gathered crowd,” the department stated, emphasizing their goal to maintain peace without causing harm.

However, upon arrival, officers noted a chaotic scene with multiple federal agents from various agencies attempting to detain women, as per the Worcester Police Department.

The federal agents were in the process of arresting a woman as the crowd grew unruly, with some individuals physically engaging with agents and officers to prevent the arrest.

At one point, a young woman stood in front of the moving vehicle, holding her newborn, leading officials to express concern for the child’s safety. Authorities reported that the situation escalated when she attempted to run in front of the SUV and even kicked the vehicle’s passengers, prompting her eventual arrest.

She now faces charges for jeopardizing a child, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and obstructing justice, although the infant was unharmed.

Police have also reported that 38-year-old Ashley Spring from Worcester was arrested for allegedly pushing multiple officers and hurling an unknown liquid at them.

Spring has been charged with assaulting a police officer, possessing a dangerous weapon (the unknown liquid), disorderly conduct, and obstructing an officer.

The Worcester Police stated that this complex incident is still under investigation, and additional charges may follow.
