Disorderly scenes of the 'ultra-left': Wild viral moments from the riots in France

France is experiencing some of the most severe street violence seen in many years, with protests escalating into unrest marked by property damage and looting.

Reports indicate that hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets across various cities this past weekend. French media suggest these demonstrations stem from soaring energy prices and student frustrations with their educational environments.

‘We proudly announce that we are blocking the largest museum in the world,’ was one of the demonstrators’ slogans.

In contrast, French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has labeled a segment of the most aggressive demonstrators as far-left and “ultra-left.” The protests share striking similarities with global movements seen in the past decade.

1. Burning down the state

Rioters have targeted public buildings, luxury shops, supermarkets, and even police vehicles, as reported by various sources.

In the city of Limoges, city hall was set ablaze. Additionally, in Marseille, protesters forcefully entered city hall and decorated it with anarchist graffiti. Lyon’s city tourism office was notably consumed by flames.

2. Louvre protest backlash

Students initiated a blockade outside the Louvre, condemning “police repression,” as reported by Newsweek. This included obstructing the main entrance to the iconic museum while performing music.

In a widely circulated video, tourists expressed their frustration at having their schedules disrupted, chanting at the protesters and gesturing in anger.

A protester allegedly remarked, “The tourists who are waiting are aggressive toward us because they’ve paid for their tickets.” Some in the group also handed out leaflets boasting, “We are proud to announce that we are blocking the largest museum in the world.”

3. The unfazed jogger

French President Emmanuel Macron stated that “Those who destroy must pay,” and emphasized accountability for looters and individuals attempting to destabilize the Republic.

Despite the evident chaos, a woman jogging through the turmoil gained viral attention. Dressed in a sports bra, shorts, and a jacket tied around her waist, she was seen casually jogging past piles of burning bicycles and groups of masked protesters.

As the camera captures her running, an inferno with thick black smoke looms ahead, seemingly the next stop on her route.

4. Your city tomorrow?

Numerous viewers have already watched a video documenting the aggressive attacks on at least four police vehicles in Paris by rioters.

In this video, as police cars pass with sirens blaring, rioters in black attire can be seen attempting to smash the vehicles using stones and other debris.

One rioter even smiled and posed for the camera while recording the scene on their phone, as sparks flew around them. The accompanying post on X read, “Paris today. Your city tomorrow?” followed by a question: “Where are you, President Emmanuel Macron?”

5. The warning

According to Nick Freitas in the documentary titled “The Immigration Crisis That Will Destroy the West,” Western nations are at serious risk of being overwhelmed by individuals who harbor little appreciation for them.

Freitas discusses the disillusionment felt towards politicians and the demographic shifts occurring in the West, attributed to ineffective policies that permit massive asylum requests from places like Pakistan and allow economic migrants from developing countries to enter.

6. Posing for the camera

Another video features a group of rioters who express joy in their achievements as they pose for the camera amidst wrecked streets and raging flames. While some flash the middle finger, others in the backdrop grunt in unison, and one individual waves what appears to be a mannequin’s leg.

A post from Visegrad 24, a news curator in Central Europe, identified them as “young 2nd and 3rd-generation migrant rioters” celebrating the chaos in Paris.

Uncertainty surrounds their identities, but the post remarked that they “proudly give the French people the finger in the picture.”

7. Cordial monsters

A viral video also depicts a woman, seemingly an advocate for the protests, attempting to dissuade looters at a grocery store but ultimately failing as they work around her interventions.

“But why are you doing this?” she implores the looters in a translation of her words. “Arretez!” she yells, or “stop.”

She then tries to impede access to the store while insisting, “That’s not the cause.” Undeterred, the looters gently push her aside and continue their theft, cheering each other on. One man cautions her, “You are going to hurt yourself.”

In distress, she questions, “What’s the point of doing that?!” as she turns tearfully to the camera before retreating. The video concludes with a view of the looters inside, leaving a helpless shopkeeper behind.
