Six immigrants have been arrested and charged with trafficking two teenage girls for prostitution in Nebraska, authorities said.
Omaha Police Department reported. arrest Two girls, ages 15 and 16, were found in a room at the Americ Inn, along with five men and a woman, KETV-TV reported.
Investigators say Eduardo Perdomo, 26, and Alfredo Zambrano-Hurtado, 24, brought the two girls to Omaha from Denver. Once in Omaha, the two reportedly posted ads on prostitution websites offering to sell girls sex.
The accused trafficker was reportedly discovered after investigators called the number listed in the advertisement. Police announced that other arrests were also made through the phone number. Police later arrested Vishal Goswami (31), Kavankumar Patel (26) and Sumit Chaudhary (23) in connection with the prostitution of the two girls.
“I think some people don't believe that sex trafficking can't happen in Omaha, Nebraska. We don't live in a huge city. We don't live in the situations you would expect. No, but it certainly could be. And this is an example of how that could happen.” said Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine.
Perdomo and Zambrano-Hurtado reportedly made “derogatory statements” suggesting they were transporting underage girls to Omaha for sex.
Investigators also found photos of underage girls in sexually explicit poses on Perdomo's cell phone. Some of the same photos on his phone were also posted on prostitution sites.
Officials said Martinez Gonzalez is in the country illegally from Colombia. Perdomo is an illegal immigrant from Venezuela. And Zambrano-Hurtado is also an illegal immigrant.
The immigration status of Chaudhary, Goswami and Patel was not reported.
Perdomo was charged with two counts of labor or sex trafficking of a minor, criminal conspiracy, visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct, and possession of child pornography, and was held on 10 million yen bail.
Zambrano Hurtado and Martinez Gonzalez were charged with sex trafficking of a minor and conspiracy. Bond was set at $5 million each.
Chaudhary tried to pay $60 for sex with one of the girls, but was arrested on charges of first-degree sexual assault and sex trafficking of a minor, and was held without bail. Ta.
Goswami and Kavankumar were also held without bail after being accused of paying $60 for sex and charged with child sexual assault and sex trafficking of a minor.
The suspects made their first court appearance Thursday.
