DNC chair tells Haley that South Carolina Dems aren’t ‘bailing you out’

Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Jamie Harrison warned Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley ahead of the Palmetto State primary that the South Carolina Democratic Party would not “bail out” her.

Speaking at an event in Columbia, South Carolina, on Saturday morning, Harrison had a message for Haley: She shouldn’t expect support from Democrats. This is because the Democratic camp is trying to narrow the gap between former President Trump and Haley locally.

Harrison also criticized the former South Carolina governor’s record in his home state, focusing on the medical field.

“We know Nikki Haley,” Harrison said. “We all know Nikki Haley. Nikki Haley is the governor of this state and she authorized the closure of the hospital in his hometown, where his parents still live.”

“Nikki Haley was governor and she blocked 250,000 people in this country from getting health care,” he continued. “Nikki Haley is the governor who signed one of the most restrictive anti-abortion bills in the country.”

The Democratic National Committee chairman, who in October called Haley a “MAGA stooge,” continued similar attacks against her, once again aligning her with Trump’s Make America Great Again movement.

“My message to Nicki is, bless her heart from the beginning, we will not vote for you because you have done nothing for us,” he said. Ta.

“We’re not going to bail you out because you haven’t done anything for us. You know, there are two MAGA apples in this field on the left and both on the right.” added Harrison. “So the South Carolina Democratic Party bailed out neither.”

Haley, the only major candidate to challenge Trump, is facing a difficult situation at home just three weeks before the state’s primary begins.

She currently has a lead of more than 30 points, according to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s latest poll tally. Still, his supporters in the state point to recent polls showing him closing the gap with the former president.

Haley’s campaign on Thursday rolled out a series of ads touting her accomplishments as governor, as the Trump campaign shifts its focus to the general election, where she is expected to face President Biden again. She has also criticized her age, calling both Biden and Trump “grumpy old men” in her latest attacks.

The Hill has reached out to Haley’s camp for comment.
