DNC Delegates Want Abortion Executive Orders on Day 1 if Harris Elected

CHICAGO, Illinois – Democratic National Convention (DNC) delegates told Breitbart News that if Vice President Kamala Harris is elected president, they want her to take executive action on several left-wing causes, especially on the issue of abortion, on her first day in office.

Texas Representative Sharon Rhodes explicitly told Breitbart News that she wants Harris to “overturn” the Supreme Court’s decision.Obs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization–Reversed Roe v. Wade– on day one if she becomes president.

“Let’s give women their rights back,” Rose added.

“I’m very concerned about abortion,” Wisconsin Representative Sam Kaufman said when asked what a hypothetical Harris would do on her first day in office.

“I would like to see it legalized in all 50 states,” he added.

Oklahoma Representative Joshua Harris-Till also said he supports “executive action from day one” on abortion, but he doesn’t want it to stop there.

“On abortion, on student loan forgiveness, on the border, I think there are a lot of things that could be done executively, realistically speaking,” he said.

“Certainly the courts may step in and Congress may step in and say, ‘Hey, you can’t do that,’ but we’ve been just waiting for a solution from a Congress that doesn’t do anything for so long, so I’m excited to see some action,” he added.

Harris Till said he doesn’t want Harris to be “a dictator from day one. Not to that extent, but to the extent that she can use her power to say, ‘These are real problems. It would be great if we could alleviate these problems for the American people.'”

The Oklahoma representative would also support an executive order on price controls, part of Harris’ economic policy proposals that have drawn sharp criticism from Republicans.

“I think the economy is clearly taking a hit,” he said, “and I’ve seen a lot of good things from Joe Biden, but I know that’s going to be front and center in people’s minds because the stock market is crashing. Her desire to keep food prices down may be the most important thing she can do for families.”

Breitbart News also interviewed two Washington state representatives, Rep. Emory Raines and Andrew Marc Carlos.

When asked what a hypothetical President Harris should do on her first day in office, Raines called for climate change legislation rather than executive orders on her first day in office, and said a Harris administration wouldn’t be very different from a Biden administration.

“If she’s elected, it’s not going to be dramatically different from the current administration,” he said. “I mean, my biggest issue is climate, so I hope she passes more climate legislation. There’s a lot of work to be done in that area, and that’s my biggest issue.”

Carlos said he wants Harris to turn the economy around, but he didn’t offer specifics on what he would expect on day one of a hypothetical Harris administration.

“Day one? I think we’re definitely going to continue to rebuild the economy. It’s been shaky since the pandemic ended, so we’re definitely going to continue that progress. That’s going to be hard for any president,” he said. “But obviously, a lot of the investments like ARPA, with the American Rescue Plan Act and the Inflation Reduction Act runoff, they’re bringing a lot to the table.”

He also praised the CHIPS and Science Act, which Biden signed into law in 2022.

“Made in America, that means supporting American jobs and making our economy strong,” he said. “So I want to make sure that happens, because when she talks about investing in the middle class, that’s where it starts.”

When asked if he thought there was a correlation between the extreme spending on these three bills passed by the Biden administration and the extreme inflation plaguing working-class Americans, Carlos replied, “Not really.”

“The inflation report shows that inflation is currently coming down, so I’m very optimistic about that. So, as long as she works with the bipartisan CBO, you know, I wouldn’t be too worried about it,” he added.
