DNI Tulsi Gabbard refers two alleged leakers to DOJ for prosecution — with 3rd ‘on its way’

National Intelligence Director Tarshi Gabbard introduced the Justice Department to two individuals accused of leaking documents classified as news outlets as the Trump administration pursues interagency crackdown.

Gabbard, 44, claimed that one of the individuals handed out material classified by the Washington Post, and the other provided sensitive information to the New York Times.

“A third crime introduction is ongoing,” Gabbard said. I said in the announcement On Wednesday, he accused the third leaker of allegedly illegally sending the material to the Washington Post.

The specific material that was leaking is still unknown, but the move is widely seen as a warning against other potential leaking vehicles from passing the classified material to the media.

The Pentagon and the Department of Homeland Security’s Top Brass have similarly leaked internal probes, with some officials considering using polygraph detectors to identify leaks.

“The leakage of information classified as the politicization of our intelligence must endanger and end the security of our country,” Gabbard said in a statement. “People who leaked classified information are responsible to the fullest extent of the law.

“We look forward to working with the Department of Justice and the FBI to investigate, terminate and prosecute these offenders.”

Gabbard has condemned allegedly attempting to undermine President Trump’s agenda.

Ultimately, the DOJ will need to decide whether to pursue criminal charges for alleged leakers.

The DNI Chief convened the Task Force, the director’s initiative group, earlier this month, to explore ways to increase transparency within the intelligence news community. Part of its mission is to go after an unauthorized leak of classified information.

Last month, Gabbard faced scrutiny from lawmakers on the House and Senate intelligence news committees over the leaked signal group chats that she was included.

Signal chat was formed by national security adviser Mike Waltz. Mike Waltz accidentally added Jeffrey Goldberg, Editor-in-Chief of the Atlantic.
