Doctor Sues Fifth Amendment Before Congressional Testimony

Kevin O’Connor, a physician who previously treated former President Joe Biden, invoked his Fifth Amendment rights on Wednesday prior to his expected appearance before Congress.

O’Connor was scheduled to testify in front of the House Oversight Committee regarding allegations that he helped conceal Biden’s deteriorating health during the campaign and while in office. A statement from O’Connor’s legal team mentioned that he is asserting his rights as a doctor, emphasizing the doctor-patient privilege.

“This committee has indicated that it will not uphold doctor-patient confidentiality, which is a cornerstone of medical ethics,” said the statement. It went on to highlight that the committee’s stance could force O’Connor to disclose sensitive details about Biden’s medical evaluations and treatment.

“Disclosing confidential patient information could breach fundamental ethical obligations, risking Dr. O’Connor’s medical license and potentially exposing him to civil liability,” the statement noted. “Dr. O’Connor remains committed to maintaining his confidentiality oath to all patients, including President Biden.”

Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer (R-KY), criticized O’Connor’s refusal to testify, suggesting it indicates involvement in a “conspiracy” to obscure President Biden’s cognitive issues.

“Today, Dr. O’Connor has once again invoked the Fifth Amendment at his congressional deposition,” Comer stated. “This clearly points to a conspiracy aimed at concealing the truth about President Biden’s mental state after O’Connor opted not to answer questions, thereby choosing to protect himself instead.”

“The public deserves transparency, yet Dr. O’Connor seems intent on concealing the facts,” Comer continued. “He dodged questions about whether he was instructed to misrepresent President Biden’s health, raising concerns about his fitness for office. It’s imperative that Congress reviews measures to prevent such cover-ups in the future.”

Recent speculation has intensified regarding Biden’s inner circle, suggesting they may be complicit in this alleged cover-up. Just recently, leaked documentation from the Biden campaign indicated that aides pressured the candidate to engage in early debates “before the electorate had had a chance to vote.” Furthermore, the campaign’s unusual references to Biden in all capital letters in internal documents have led to additional questions about his mental acuity.

One memo asserted, “The discussions this spring will help us reach the largest audience possible during the summer before other events, like holidays and the Olympics, take precedence.”

Commentator Byron York remarked on the memo, labeling it as “the worst political advice imaginable.”
