The Department of Defense (DOD) is providing “additional support” to the U.S. Secret Service in the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Anthony Guglielmi, director of public affairs for the Secret Service, said the Pentagon would provide “additional logistical, transportation and communications support throughout the 2024 election season.”

Guglielmi said the agency had stepped up defense efforts since the July 13 incident to “ensure the highest levels of safety and security.”

“The U.S. Secret Service appreciates the invaluable contributions and continued support of our military partners as we work together to ensure the highest level of security for the President, Vice Presidential nominee and their families,” Guglielmi continued.
