DoE Investigates CA Over Schools Hiding ‘Gender Identity’ from Parents

President Donald Trump's Department of Education (DOE) on Thursday The investigation has begun To the California Department of Education (CDE), which allegedly allowed schools to move socially for minors and to conceal minors' “gender identities” from their parents in violation of federal law.

DOE's Office of Student Privacy Policy (SPPO) is specifically considering whether CDE violates the Family Education Rights Privacy Act (FERPA). The DOE said CDE has been accused of waived FERPA due to state laws that prohibit school staff from disclosing students' “gender identity” to children's parents.

“Teachers and school counselors should not do business advising minors who are entrusted with consequential decisions about sexual identity and mental health. The responsibility and privilege lies with parents or trustworthy loved ones,” Education Secretary Linda McMahon said in a statement.

SSPO isMany local educational institutions (LEAs) in California may be violating FERPA to socially transition children in schools, while hiding the minor's “gender identity” from their parents. ”

The DOE added that given the number of Lee “appears to be involved,” SPPO is concerned that CDE is “are being adopted directly or indirectly in the widespread adoption of these practices.

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) signed the 1955 Congressional Bill in July 2024 and came into effect on January 1, 2025. bill, Uphemistically called Support Academic Futures and Educators for Youth Law today, and the summary is as follows:

The bill prohibits members of the district, county offices of education, charter schools, and state special schools, as well as the boards of management or institutions of those educational institutions. The bill prohibits employees or contractors of these educational institutions from making such disclosures, as provided for, unless otherwise required by law. The bill prohibits employees or contractors who are members of the district, education, charter school, or the county office of a state special school, or the board of trustees or organizations of those educational institutions.

When asked directly by Breitbart News in 2023, Newsom rejected the idea as to why parents do not have the right to know about their child's gender transition. First, he argued that it was not worth discussing, and that the lives of transgender “children” were at risk. He did not decide how or when a child would determine his sexuality or gender identity.

The DOE said state law does not override federal law, noting that educational institutions that receive federal funds are subject to FERPA. The department said a violation of FERPA could lead to the termination of federal funds.

“It is not only immoral, but it can also contradict federal laws in California schools, to hide important information about student well-being from parents and guardians,” McMahon added. “The agency has launched today's investigation to ensure that students are not victimized by radical transgender ideology that leads to family marginalization and irreversible medical interventions.”

Advocacy groups especially known as parents Found In 2023, more than 1,000 school districts across the United States have a policy that openly state that district officials can or should keep students' transgender status from their parents. That figure includes 18,335 schools and 10,712,558 students.
