A dog recently faced serious danger in Florida to protect her canine companion when two bears approached the yard.
Marion, a Pitbull mix, was enjoying time outside with her “boyfriend” Bruno when the unexpected incident occurred, as reported.
While they were playing, two bears entered the backyard, and one of them charged at Bruno.
According to Claire Samford, a coordinator at the Emergency Veterinary Clinics in Niceville and Destin, Marion quickly sprang into action to defend Bruno.
Samford mentioned that Marion was hurt while confronting the bears, suffering bites on her neck and face. Despite her injuries, Marion was brave and eventually made it to the clinic for care.
A video shared online shows Marion recovering and snuggling up with Bruno, who is a friend’s dog.
People on social media praised her bravery. One commenter expressed, “This dog is truly an angel on Earth. I just want to give her a big hug.”
Another added, “It’s not the size of a dog in a fight, but the size of a dog’s fight. What a beautiful little hero!”
Reports indicate that Marion and her owner live in Florida. Samford also reflected on the strong bond between humans and their dogs, noting similar acts of bravery in other cases.
For instance, in 2023, a woman in Maine punched a bear to protect her dog.
Marion’s act of courage isn’t isolated—other dogs have shown heroism, like a Yorkshire Terrier in South Dakota that alerted its owners to a rattlesnake, leading to a scary encounter but ultimately saving them.
