DOGE claims $65B in estimated savings as ‘Agency Efficiency Leaderboard’ is launched

Government Efficiency (DOGE) launched the “Agents Efficiency Leaderboard” early on Tuesday morning. This shows which agencies saved the most from cancelled contracts and other cost-cutting measures.

Doge, led by billionaire Elon Musk, who is also a senior adviser to President Donald Trump, claims his total savings total was $65 billion on Monday.

The savings come from “a combination of fraud detection/deletion, contract/lease cancellation, contract/lease renegotiation, asset sales, grant cancellation, labor reduction, program changes, and regulatory savings.”

“We are working to upload all this data in a digestible, completely transparent way with clear assumptions, consistent with applicable rules and regulations,” Doge said on the website. It is stated in.

The department listed contracts published by the Federal Procurement Data System or FPD, but Doge emphasized that there was a month's delay in the FPDS posting of the final termination notice.

“There may be a discrepancy between the FPD and the numbers posted, but the latter arises directly from agency contract staff,” Doge said.

At the top of Doge's “Agency Efficiency Leaderboard” for most savings are the Ministry of Education, the Bureau of General Services, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Ministry of Labor and Human Resources Administration.

Doge said the agencies with the lowest savings are the State Department, the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Transport, the Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce.

Last week, Doge claimed it had saved $55 billion, but nearly 40% of cancelled contracts didn't save money as the total value was already fully mandated. It's already spent money, according to several outlets, including the Washington Post.

Furthermore, according to the Bloomberg Act, the $55 billion savings Doge, which was billed at the time, was only about $8.6 billion if the items listed were added. Taking into consideration, the error in the data published by DOGE was initially mislabeled as misinterpreting the contract to $800,000 before being later corrected in the federal database.
