DOGE deputy, Treasury Secretary dish on crusade to fix the IRS

As government efficiency (DOGE) aims to reduce waste and correct inefficiency, one Doge advisor revealed that “it's hard to really grasp the scale” of the issues facing the IRS.

“The majority of our government is collecting taxes. We can't carry out the basic functions of tax collection without making any sacrifices to all of these contractors. We really have to think about how to get out of this hole. We're in a really deep hole now.

“Doge Bro” shed light on his work within the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) along with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to reduce federal fat.

The Trump Treasury Department has confirmed that it is “rationalizing” the IRS to “rationalize” as the tax season heats up

Corcos told Fox News host Laura Ingraham that one of his main priorities during the six-month timeline is to look into the IRS modernization program, as well as other operations and budgets.

“This is a huge program that's now 30 years behind, and is already over budget, $15 billion,” he said. “The IRS has some pretty legacy infrastructure… and the challenge was how to move it into modern systems.”

The level CEO and co-founder observed that many major banks running on similar systems have already been modernised. He added that the IRS has exceeded billions of people, over 30 years and beyond the planned budget, compared to typical expectations for the industry.

“We are now 35 years from this program. Now, if you ask them now, it's five years from 1990, five years from 1996. It should be delivered in 1996, and it's still five years away,” he said.

Recently confirmed bescent President Donald Trump's Treasury Secretary, “One of the biggest surprises for me is seeing how I see these entrenched benefits. They keep constricting themselves around the power, money, around the system, and no one cares.”

Following the judge's order, the Institute served as an office standoff to Doge on “The Right Path”: Administrators

The secretary turned his attention to another issue facing the country's highest tax office.

“A lot of the employees are great. This is this consultant group. They're like BoA contractions. They're like Python,” he said. “They tie themselves together around our government, and the costs are incredible. They are being handed over to American taxpayers.”

Corcos also claimed that about 80% of the $3.5 billion IRS operational and maintenance budget will request contractors and licenses.

The IRS is one of many federal agencies and agencies under scrutiny by the Doge and Trump administrations. Since Trump took office, the Musk-led division has aimed at dismantling government bureaucracy, reducing regulations, reducing wasteful spending and restructuring federal agencies.

However, Doge's recent actions have been filled with scrutiny from many Democrats.

“The rooted profits, consultants, Democrats and mainstream media just want to blow the project out of the water,” Bescent told Ingraham. “This is the opposite of government efficiency, not exclusion, not extinction. Sam and his crew make it more efficient to work for Americans.

Bessent said his top priority for the Tax Revenue Bureau was “collections, privacy and customer service,” and he argued that “none of them is being provided sufficiently.”

“We want people to feel satisfied that they are receiving the services they deserve, that they are paying their fair share, not more, no less, and that it is being done quickly, clever and personally.”
