Federal Investigation Opens Into Rep. Cory Mills
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has initiated a federal criminal investigation concerning Florida GOP Representative Cory Mills, as reported by sources to ABC News and NBC News.
Details are still sparse, but law enforcement indicated that the investigation touches on Mills’ campaign finances and his international business activities.
This likely relates to his involvement with defense contracting firms, particularly Pacem Solutions International and Pacem Defense, which he helped establish prior to taking his congressional seat.
These companies are engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of munitions, military security services, and riot control gear across regions, including the Middle East. Notably, they are currently facing significant financial challenges, with debts totaling tens of millions and undergoing foreclosure proceedings.
The Office of Congressional Conduct has reportedly flagged these business dealings after discovering evidence that Mills’ firms may still benefit from active federal defense contracts post-election, potentially breaching federal laws and Congressional ethics regulations.
This federal investigation unfolds alongside a separate inquiry by the House Ethics Committee, which is examining multiple allegations against Mills. These include campaign finance misconduct, issues with financial disclosures, and even allegations of sexual misconduct and domestic violence.
In response to these developments, Mills claimed he was unaware of any DOJ investigation, suggesting that any inquiries might be a continuation of the House Ethics Committee’s ongoing work. Upon hearing about the DOJ investigation, he labeled the reports as “fake news” and a “political witch hunt.” He has firmly denied any wrongdoing and has not faced formal charges.
Mills, who first won election for Florida’s 7th Congressional District in 2022 and was re-elected in 2024, sits on the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees. He is currently campaigning for a third term in the upcoming general election.
In a related matter, a Florida court is also reviewing allegations of cyberstalking and harassment made by Mills’ ex-girlfriend, Lindsey Langston.
Mills has dismissed these allegations, arguing they are politically motivated. He pointed to the involvement of Langston’s attorney, Anthony Sabatini, a previous opponent, claiming that Sabatini is misusing the judicial system for political advantage. Mills triumphed over Sabatini in the competitive 2022 Republican primary and subsequently won the general election.
Mills stated, “The weaponization of the judicial system is an egregious affront to our democracy — and Sabatini should be ashamed for borrowing tactics from the radical left’s playbook,” indicating his strong opposition to the allegations.
