Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) claimed Thursday on MSNBC's “Deadline” that the Justice Department was not given any weapons against President-elect Donald Trump.
Host Nicole Wallace said, “The problem is that someone like Bill Barr has had a hard time blocking Donald Trump's desire to use the IRS and use the Justice Department against Trump's enemies. That's probably true.'' Trump was unrelenting in his demands. Do you think a willingness to retaliate is a prerequisite for Matt Gates' replacement? ”
The White House said: “Can we start with the big lie that started this all, about whether the Department of Justice was armed?” And the problem with the Department of Justice being weaponized and the prosecutors in New York and the prosecutors in Georgia complicit in the weaponization is that Trump is a captured criminal and has to do all kinds of weasel. It is simply a rebuttal to the fact that there was no such thing. Get out of there and be found guilty or responsible elsewhere. So behind all this is an effort to eliminate the fundamental fact that the person they are supporting, the leader of this cult, is actually a criminal. If you cannot accept that, you will have to pursue the prosecution. And you fall into a cascade of rhetorical consequences, opening the door to turning the office into a real weapon to pretend against Trump. ”
