Dolly Parton Introduces Tennessee Travel Stops
The Queen of Country Music, Dolly Parton, is bringing a touch of Southern hospitality to the highways of Tennessee. Recently, she announced the launch of Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stops, set to enhance the travel experience with unique entertainment options.
Parton expressed her experience on the road, noting, “I’ve spent most of my life on the streets, especially on buses.” She reflected on her years of visits to various diners and truck stops, stating that they’ve given her insight into what travelers need.
Since her first hit single in 1967, Parton has achieved numerous accolades, including 11 Emmy Awards, and has performed extensively throughout her lengthy music career.
“Whether you drive a truck, bus, or car, you need a place that feels like home and where you can recharge for the rest of your journey,” she said. “We believe we can fill a void on the highway while bringing the heart and soul of Tennessee.”
Parton is teaming up with the Tennessean Travel Stop brand to revitalize its flagship location in Cornersville, Tennessee, with plans to add more spots next year.
The native of the Smoky Mountains aims to create a welcoming environment for everyone, from families to truck drivers. In 2019, the state’s roads saw drivers racking up an impressive 227,102 miles per day.
Gregory Sachs, chairman and CEO of Tennessean Travel Stops, emphasized the importance of their roots in the community, stating, “Our roots in this community run deep, creating jobs, building connections, and welcoming generations of people through our doors.” He added that the collaboration will celebrate Tennessee’s unique offerings.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation reported a significant increase in vehicle travel, from 65.7 billion miles in 2000 to 77.7 billion miles by 2016. Parton’s initiative aims to both revitalize rest areas and create jobs, especially in underserved communities.
Her manager, Danny Nozel, shared hopes that this project will uplift spirits and underline Parton’s devotion to her home state and its businesses. The Cornersville location will undergo renovations to incorporate modern amenities while still remaining open during the process.
