Dolly Parton Launches Tennessean Travel Stops to Enhance Road Trips

Dolly Parton is bringing a touch of Southern hospitality to travel in Tennessee with her new project, Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stops. This initiative aims to create not just convenience, but also a fun experience for travelers. It’s like she’s making the journey itself as enjoyable as the destination.

Parton, who has spent a lot of time on the road—particularly on buses—shared her excitement in a recent announcement. She’s teaming up with the Tennessean Travel Stop brand to reopen their flagship location in Cornersville, Tennessee, with plans to expand further in 2026.

In a recent interview, she opened up about her favorite spots in Nashville, mentioning the Grand Ole Opry as a highlight of her musical journey.

The Opry has deep roots in country music history, having been launched by George D. Hay in 1925 with the show originally named “WSM’s Barn Dance.” It quickly gained popularity, moving to the Ryman Auditorium in 1943 before eventually settling into a dedicated theater in 1974.

Parton reminisced about her induction into the Opry during a performance at the Ryman in 1969, recalling how she has graced that stage numerous times thereafter, often filming specials there.

The Grand Ole Opry has become a cultural staple, seating nearly 4,400 people across 30 sections, showcasing both legendary artists and emerging talent. In a celebration of her 50th anniversary as a member in 2019, Parton filmed a special that captured the magic of the venue.

Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, another iconic venue, was also mentioned by Parton. “If we couldn’t find someone backstage, they were probably at Tootsie’s,” she chuckled. It’s a place that has seen many artists get their start, and she fondly recalled filming parts of her variety show there in the past.

Additionally, for those venturing into Nashville, the John Siegenthaler Pedestrian Bridge is a personal favorite of Parton. She noted how it connects East Nashville to downtown and has even been the backdrop for her music video “Together You & I.”

The bridge stretches about 0.95 miles, offering stunning views of the Nashville skyline, making it a must-see for visitors.

As she embarks on this new endeavor with the travel stops, Parton seems keen to embrace her roots and enhance the travel experience for all those who take to Tennessee’s highways.
