Now healthier, Domingo Germán expects to return to Major League Baseball next season.
The former Yankees are in talks with six teams, including American League East rivals the Blue Jays and Orioles, according to a person familiar with German's situation.
The Mets are also in talks with Gellman's camp, but officials said the Yankees' crosstown rival is “the least favorite.”
Several teams have made deals, but no deal is imminent due to notable ups and downs after the season.
Officials said Gelman completed the required steps in an inpatient treatment program after the season ended on Aug. 3, when he sought help for alcohol abuse following an incident in the Yankees' clubhouse.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Gellman clashed with Yankees members, knocking over a couch and breaking a television.
He was placed on the restricted list and left the team for the final months of the campaign.
He returned in early November just before being de-tendered by the Yankees.
The person said that although Gelman has met the program's requirements, he continues to voluntarily check in with experts on a regular basis to ensure he is on the right path.
“He's doing well and working hard,” the source said. “He's moved away from distractions before. He's in a good place.”
Germán is expected to receive a major league contract.
According to sources, two teams have made offers, but negotiations are continuing.
If baseball is the only consideration, the 31-year-old won't even be a free agent and would be in a position to help the Yankees' thin rotation.
He was a valuable asset to the Yankees for six seasons, racking up more strikeouts than innings and a 4.41 ERA.
Gelman is coming off a season that had many ups and downs on the field.
He had a perfect game in Oakland in June, a masterpiece after conceding 17 points in two games.

He failed a tricky test and was banned from the start of May.
Although his season ended in the clubhouse, this was his second off-field issue during his time with the Yankees.
Germán was suspended for 81 games during the 2019-2020 season for violating MLB's domestic violence policy.
Mr. Gellman was placed on administrative leave on September 19, 2019, after being accused of violent behavior towards his then-girlfriend (now wife). The Athletic reported that German was drunk that night.
After a tumultuous tenure in the Bronx and an offseason spent working on improving as a person, German seems ready for another chance.
