22-Year-Old Arrested for Transporting Child Sex Abuse Material
According to the U.S. Department of Justice and the Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts, Jorge Jr. Alvarez Rodriguez, 21, has been charged with transporting child sexual abuse material. He made his first court appearance in Boston on Monday, but specific details about the hearing remain undisclosed.
Reportedly, Alvarez was subjected to secondary screening upon his arrival at Boston Logan International Airport on May 3, 2025, after traveling from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Authorities claim that during a search of his mobile device, they discovered multiple files containing child sexual abuse material, involving children aged between 4 to 7 years old.
Criminal charges of this kind can lead to a sentence of up to five years in prison, lifetime supervised release, and fines reaching $250,000. The ultimate decision rests with a U.S. district court judge, who will apply applicable sentencing guidelines.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative created to address the rising issues of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program aims to enhance collaboration among federal and state entities to pursue offenders while also locating and rescuing victims.
