Don Lemon asserts he is 'serious' about running for president in 2028

Don Lemon Considers Presidential Run

In a recent interview, former CNN host and now independent journalist Don Lemon revealed that he is seriously contemplating a bid for the presidency in 2028. He expressed confidence in his potential effectiveness as a commander-in-chief.

During a podcast hosted by Kalman Wong and Travis Dhanraj, Lemon was asked directly about his political ambitions. Dhanraj probed, “Do you have political ambitions? Is that true?”

Lemon responded cautiously, stating, “No, but people keep asking me if I’m running for president.” He added, “And I don’t know. I might. I’m serious. I don’t know. I might. Because people keep asking me if I do it or if I’m going to do it.”

Aged 60, Lemon asserted that having political experience isn’t a prerequisite for the presidency. He pointed out that Trump was elected in 2016 without a conventional political background.

Lemon critiqued the former president, suggesting he “could have done a better job if he actually listened to people,” but instead behaved as if he knew it all. “I actually think I’d make a really good president of the United States,” he remarked.

On the matter of funding a campaign, Lemon noted he’d prefer to avoid soliciting donations, though he questioned whether that approach would be feasible.

Since his departure from CNN in April 2023, Lemon has been reestablishing himself as an independent journalist, launching “The Don Lemon Show” on platforms like YouTube.

He’s also made headlines for another reason; in January, he was arrested while participating in a protest against ICE in Minnesota. Among 39 people charged, Lemon claimed he was there in his role as an independent journalist.
