Former President Donald Trump on Thursday slammed President Joe Biden over his criminal conviction, calling it a “fraudulent decision” and a deliberate political attack designed to “hurt” his opponent.
Constitutional law scholar Jonathan Turley told Fox News that the decision would likely be overturned in either state or federal court.
The jury found Trump guilty on all 34 charges.
“This was an act by the Biden administration to hurt a political opponent, and it’s just a disgrace,” Trump told reporters after the verdict.
“This has been a fraudulent decision from day one, by a conflicted-interest judge who should never have been allowed to try this case,” Trump said.
“We will keep fighting, we will fight to the end and we will win, because our country has gone to hell,” he added.
“Our country is in decline. Serious decline,” Trump continued. “Right now we have millions of people coming into our country from prisons and mental hospitals, terrorists trying to take over our country. We have a big problem.”
A recent CNN poll found that a growing number of Americans believe Trump’s criminal trial is irrelevant to his reelection, with only 13% saying he is being treated the same as other “criminal defendants.”
A CNN poll found that a majority of Americans don’t believe Trump’s criminal trial will end in a fair outcome, and only about a third of American adults believe Trump acted illegally in the case, according to the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Policy Research. vote It was discovered in April.
CNN analysts cited data showing that Americans view the charges against Trump as less serious as the trial continues.
