Trump's phone conversation It lasted about two hours with Putin on Tuesday, when Trump described it as “very good and productive.” The president said that he and Putin “agree to an immediate ceasefire of all energy and infrastructure, understand that we will work on a full ceasefire quickly, and will ultimately end this extremely horrifying war between Russia and Ukraine.”

“The most important thing for Ukraine is not to lose the independence and sovereignty of our nation. Russia should not again influence the independence of Ukrainians,” Zelensky said.

“Even territories that are temporarily occupied remain temporarily occupied. They will not become Russians,” he insisted.

Zelensky also said he would not “discuss what our army should look like” with the Russians, arguing that Ukrainian military power remains “a key element of our independence, a fair and guaranteed peace, and a guarantee that war will not return.”

“I don't think there should be concessions on support for Ukraine and there should be more support for Ukraine,” he said. I saidPutin reported on a halt to US military aid to Ukraine in his call with Trump on Tuesday.

Finally, Zelensky ruled out “economic security guarantees” with Russia.

“The main economic security guarantee in Ukraine is the European Union,” he argued.

“These are unconditional necessities for us. Thousands of people are in prison. They all have to be returned to their families. Those who are tortured must be brought home. And sadly, even those who are killed. These are unnegotiable issues,” he said.
