Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday defeated President Joe Biden’s release of gasoline reserves, predicting gas prices would soar to $10 a gallon if Biden is re-elected.
The administration announced on Tuesday, just six months before the election, that it plans to release 1 million barrels of gasoline from stockpiles in the Northeast set up to bring down prices.
“He can’t drill properly,” Trump told reporters during the lunch break of his criminal trial in Manhattan. “He destroyed everything we had. We were energy independent. We would soon have an energy advantage, but now we have to rely on what’s called the Strategic Reserve. Noda”
“If he gets back on board, he’ll be paying more than $10 a barrel,” Trump said. “You better hope he doesn’t get re-elected.”
“We’ve been doing this to keep prices down, but prices are now higher than they’ve ever been in a long time,” Trump said of the reserves.
“He’s trying to stop that because I think high prices are bad for elections, but nothing he’s done is good for elections,” he said.
