Trump Critiques Border Patrol Incident and Local Officials
President Donald Trump expressed his disapproval of Border Patrol agents following the shooting of an armed individual on Truth Social. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, involved federal agents claiming they acted in self-defense due to insufficient support from local police in Minneapolis.
Reports indicate that a 37-year-old U.S. citizen from Minneapolis confronted investigators while carrying a 9mm handgun and two loaded magazines, reportedly “violently resisting” their attempts to apprehend him.
In his post, Trump raised questions about the response of local law enforcement: “This is the gunman’s gun, loaded (and two more magazines!) and ready to go. What does this mean? Where are the local police? Why weren’t the police allowed to protect the ICE agents?” He further claimed that many police officers were not permitted to do their jobs effectively, leaving ICE agents to handle the situation on their own, which he described as a “difficult” scenario.
Additionally, Trump targeted Rep. Ilhan Omar, hinting at her financial dealings amid a federal fraud investigation. He questioned, “Why is there $34 million in Ilhan Omar’s account? And where are the tens of billions stolen from the once great state of Minnesota?” He emphasized that the state was currently facing a major financial fraud issue linked to “illegal criminals” entering Minnesota due to Democratic immigration policies, demanding accountability for missing funds.
Furthermore, Trump criticized Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for their rhetoric, arguing that they were “inciting insurrection” with their statements. “They should be looking for the billions of dollars stolen from the people of Minnesota and the United States,” he claimed. Trump also pointed out the arrest of 12,000 undocumented individuals, many of whom he described as violent, suggesting their presence could lead to increased turmoil.
