The survey comes as President Trump has made clear he intends to wage a “tough fight” in traditionally blue states, including New Jersey, this election cycle.
“The other thing I’m going to do, and it might be a stupid thing to do, is I’m going to play hard for New York, I’m going to play hard for New Jersey, Virginia. I mean, we’re going to play hard for Virginia, we’re going to play hard for Virginia. It’s a tough fight for New Mexico and Minnesota, which we haven’t won in years,” Trump said in January. He told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview at his Mar-a-Lago mansion.
“I’m going to have a rally. I’m going to give a speech. I’m going to put them to work,” Trump continued. “That doesn’t mean I’m going to make them work as hard as I do in Pennsylvania, where I’m doing very well.”
“But we’re going to do it in these other states, and it’s going to be a heavy measure,” Trump added. “We could rent Madison Square Garden, but that’s the belly of the beast, right?”
