Trump’s 200 Days in Office: Major Achievements Highlighted
President Donald Trump has celebrated numerous milestones during his administration, and Thursday marks his 200th day since taking the oath of office once again.
During these first 200 days, Trump has seen advantages from various executive actions, significant legislation, trade agreements, and peace negotiations, but he particularly emphasizes six achievements.
1. Significant Legislation
One of the most notable laws Trump enacted on July 4th is regarded as his legacy legislation. It encompasses a range of campaign commitments, from tax cuts to border security.
The legislation, similar to a benefit for seniors, offers substantial tax benefits to workers and includes significant tax cuts for Americans. It also supports the construction of Trump’s southern border wall and sets in motion a large-scale deportation plan that could see up to one million individuals removed annually.
Trump stated, “This is the most popular bill in the history of our country. It includes historic tax cuts and the biggest spending cuts ever, totaling $1.7 trillion, even if you might not notice it.”
2. Trade Agreement with the European Union
While his major legislation stands out, the trade agreement with the European Union also ranks highly among Trump’s accomplishments. Through his tariffs and policies, Trump and EU President Ursula von der Leyen reached an agreement where Europe will invest $750 billion in American energy and $600 billion in US-based companies, eliminating tariffs on goods imported into the US.
Conversely, EU goods face a 15% duty in the US. The EU and US accounted for a combined 43% of the global GDP as of 2024, showcasing the significance of this trade partnership. Although some experts predict that Trump’s tariff policies might adversely affect the US economy, recent evidence suggests that wages are outpacing inflation.
Trump currently maintains trade agreements with several countries, including the UK, Japan, and South Korea. He expressed a desire for fair trade, emphasizing reciprocity in negotiations.
3. Border Control Success
Addressing illegal immigration was pivotal to Trump’s campaigns in both 2016 and 2020. His administration made considerable strides in curbing illegal immigration along the southern border. Trump focused on strict enforcement through executive actions and legislation to tackle the surge in illegal immigration. Recent reports indicate that Border Patrol released no immigrants illegally entering the US for three consecutive months.
Trump affirmed, “We enforce strict measures at the borders. People can enter legally, but they must adhere to the law.”
4. Diplomatic Mediation
Since assuming office, Trump has facilitated numerous peace agreements and ceasefires, mediating conflicts on a global scale. Of note, he’s played a critical role in resolving tensions between Cambodia and Thailand and has helped negotiate numerous other ceasefires, demonstrating his impact in international relations.
Recent conflicts highlighted border tensions that have existed for over a century, compelling Trump to step in and remind both nations of the urgent need for resolution.
5. Attracting Investments
Moreover, Trump’s administration has attracted significant investments into the US, with foreign and domestic companies establishing manufacturing facilities, benefiting from favorable tariff policies. Recent figures show a remarkable commitment of $8.16 trillion in investments from various countries, with major players like the UAE and Japan leading the way.
Apple’s announcement of a massive investment over the next four years underscores this trend.
6. Protecting Women’s and Children’s Rights
Another crucial area of Trump’s agenda has been safeguarding women and children against certain ideologies. His executive orders banning male participation in women’s sports and prohibiting gender-related surgeries for minors have sparked significant discussions across the country.
In a statement, Trump referred to these measures as essential for protecting innocent lives, asserting that the US will neither support nor fund what some term “gender-affirming care.”
A White House aide remarked that Trump has transformed the US significantly in his first 200 days, contrasting his leadership style with that of President Biden.
