Don’t expect much turnover with this Knicks core anytime soon

San Francisco – The Knicks, built by Leon Rose, are built for continuity.

All starters are on contract until at least 2027, with the exception of Mikal Bridges, where expansion eligibility will be a major offseason story.

If Bridges signs an extension and Karl Anthonytowns picks up player options, they're all signed by the Knicks after 2028.

In the age of aprons, it can be good or bad.

If the roster is younger and at least progressing towards title competition, that's ridiculous.

For the Knicks, Josh Hart is the oldest son of hair over 30 years old.

The first five – Town, Bridges, Heart, OG Anunoby, Jaren Branson – are between 27 and 30 years old.

Prime Year.

But if a team is regressing or losing their championship hopes, that's a bad thing.

After a bridge trade, there is less flexibility and less draft drafts.

And while the ceiling of this roster iteration will not be revealed until the playoffs begin, it appears James Dolan is ready to show patience while hoping for chemistry like Beantown's defending champion.

“We have a team to be with for a while,” Dolan said on the “The Roommates Show” podcast. “Leon did a good job lining up contracts. So this isn't our only season. So we play a lot of seasons together. You see a team like Boston that we played together and they can pull out something they've built from that period. And for this team, it's really a challenge today. When you enter the playoffs, it's about building it within the team.

“What we can attract. The first thing you have to have to do is believe you can win and you can win the championship. You really, really believe it. You don't worry about podcasts. You'll worry about how you're playing with other people, how communication is going. What you can do to make it better. … Give it time, and I think it will happen.”

Dolan's “What We Can Draw” line is highly interpretive, but concrete advancements will be a trip to the conference final after the elimination of a consecutive second round.

The third round could be a bar, a bar that is likely to have to pass the Celtics, which is projected as the second species in the east (the Knicks are projected as the third species).

The town said talent is in the building and it's the player's responsibility to maximize it.

“We got a lot of talent. We got a lot of bunch. [guys]He said. “So we have the opportunity to do something special. It's up to us to grasp that opportunity, take it, and run it.”

Dolan said his faith in Rose, hired in 2020, was rewarded.

“I'll hold it [front offices] On their plans. It was really easy in Leon,” Dolan said. “He didn't leave the plan at all. He just looked for opportunities. Ultimately, we're together about it and we'll move forward with it. And like I said before, this team will be together for a while. They built it that way. Now the team has to work with the coaches and develop familiarity. That extra gear that comes with getting to know each other and playing with each other for a long time. That's what we want to happen.”

Dolan, who lost his tenure in ownership and left the job, admitted that he doesn't always hire players or employs people.

“There was a time when we got to that shiny, sparkly object. Maybe this is something we need, especially when things don't go well,” he said. “Bring this guy in and maybe he'll turn it all around for us. Sometimes it's a player, sometimes it's a coach. What I've learned over time is that it doesn't work. It's not really. You really have to do the basics, the basics. You have to build a team. You have to build an organization. You don't swing a cane over the team and suddenly make it a great team. That doesn't happen.”

Now Dolan says he's banking the bank about the benefits of continuity.
