DoorDash executive one of 8 victims in Lake Tahoe boat accident

Authorities have identified a victim who tragically lost his life when a boat capsized at a popular holiday destination in California. Joshua Pickles, a 37-year-old executive at DoorDash, was one of the victims. The company expressed their deep sorrow, stating, “We are heartbroken by the tragic accident that took the life of our beloved colleague, Josh Pickles.” They highlighted his positive impact during his nearly seven years at the company, describing him as someone who inspired those around him.

Pickles’ family confirmed his death, along with his parents, Paula Bodinovich, and Terry Pickles. His widow, Jordan Sugar Carlsgaard, shared how they have lost their beloved husband and dad in a statement. “There are simply no words to express how devastating this is,” she reflected, acknowledging the lives lost during what was supposed to be a joyful gathering.

The outing was meant to celebrate Paula Bodinovich’s 71st birthday. Sadly, it turned into a tragic event as a sudden thunderstorm struck Lake Tahoe. The family expressed gratitude towards the first responders, including the Coast Guard and local law enforcement, for their efforts during this difficult time.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they are working on identifying the victims. Eight individuals have been identified, with ages ranging from 63 to 73. The sheriff’s office conveyed their condolences to the families affected by this incident.

This unfortunate event took place on a Saturday afternoon, with reports indicating that several people had ended up in the water. Witnesses described the conditions as perilous, with winds exceeding 34 mph and swells reaching 6 to 8 feet.
