Authorities said the Ocean Cruise Ship was 20 miles off the coast of Eureka, California, when the Coast Guard received a call about the boy's welfare around 7 a.m.

The helicopter arrived at the ship about an hour later and pulled the boy, wearing a white sweatshirt with a yellow hoodie, on board along with his mother.

Authorities said the boy was taken to St. Joseph Hospital emergency room where he was treated.
